We’re bringing the Steam Crow engine to Seattle, along with loads of goods and a LOT more prints than last year. (We really ran out last time.)

Again, we created an exclusive print for the event: Super Sasquatch!

It features the city, fantastic forests, Mt. Rainier, and a gigantic coffee swilling bigfoot!

We’re only doing an edition of 150 of these, before they’re retired. It measures 12×18 and is printed on 50 year archival film. We’ll be selling them for $25 each at the Steam Crow booth.

I LOVED the illustrations and art in these things; David Trampier (DAT), Erol Otis, Stephen Fabien (in some later books), and on and on. I simply loved the art these folks created.

In tribute to the game I created this parody of the 1st Edition Players Handbook. I redrew the temple, added my own characters, and tried really hard to capture the richness and vibe of the original cover. I was even able to find a texture (which you can really only see on the actual print) that replicates how the original books really wore on the shelves.

I did this in the form of a movie poster… as if Players Handbook: the movie, would ever be made. In the credits I list Gygax and a bunch of other references to the early game.

Here’s our exclusive print for the show:

We’ll just have 20 of these available at our booth, for $20. Each will be signed and hand-numbered, and are printed on satin-matte 50 year archival film.

It’ll be at the Mesa Convention Center, the old location of the Phoenix Comicon in years past. (We’ll be there too, later this year.)

The Amazing show features Robert Kirkman, Rob Liefeld, John Layman, Brian Pulido, and all sorts of local talent. (And many TINY ARMY members to boot!)

Steam Crow will offer a number of brand new prints, as well as our nearly famous pint glasses, wooden broaches, traffic novels, books, and all sorts of oddities and conundrums.

So, if you’re anywhere near Arizona, you ought to drop by and hang out your Steam Crow friends.

So, somebody tossed out VIKINGS (which I dig) and I tossed out NARWHALS which I think are the unicorns of the sea.

The Headless Horseman marks another iconic villain that I’ve been wanting to illustrate for a while. I also like drawing these gangly-legged horses for some reason.

And yeah, I’ll draw a jack-o-lantern for any reason whatsoever.

One day, a weird and odd wizard decided to combine two of the most fearsome creatures into a new creation. He took the most vile parts of the bear and combined it with the most terrible parts of the OWL! Creating the OWL BEAR!

Okay, stop.

If you’ve played D&D before, you’re already well aware of this classic (and silly) monster. Truth is, I never much cared for the Owlbear… until I thought about him in context to another famous bear… Smokey the Bear. So, I did a parody of the classic forest-saving hero and created “Smokey the Owlbear” just like that creative wizard did, so many years ago.

It’s silly, but I decided to make a Dept of Wildlife style poster warning folks about the dangers of forest fireballs. (And the owlbear who will tear off your arms if you do cast such spells.)

For us, it’s like our biggest company celebration… and when your company is all family, it works pretty well.

Dawna was the Bride of Frankenstein, while the Goblin Boy was the Invisible Mummy, based on our art print. (His choice.) I was the Invisible Mummy’s chained lackey, which apparently the other parents (of the trick-or-treaters) found to be somewhat terrifying. *scratches head* Oh well.

Here are a few photos of our costumes, as well as the Trick-er-Treat Candy Kiosk® in front of our house.

As with our tradition, I take the Goblin out trick-or-treating, while Dawna keeps the homefront spooky tending to the costumed kids.

We had a fantastic time.

How was your Halloween?

This year we focused on getting Dawna ready for Halloween. She had a great idea of what she wanted to be (not like me) and she went and had her hair dyed like the Bride of Frankenstein (For real.)

This morning on October 31st, we got up really early, and I got to do her hair! Doesn’t she look smashing?! I call her “the Bride of Steam Crow!”

We’ll take some photos of the Goblin Boy in his costume tonight. He’s going to be the Invisible Mummy!
