Halloween on wheels! It’s the Steam Crow vending trike!
What’s a “vending trike”?
Basically, it’s a cool way for us to show off our goods, chill in the shade, and even move our stuff from place to place. Yeah, it’s a real tricycle, and it really does work. We’re told that it can haul about 3oo pounds, though we’ve never moved more than maybe a couple hundred so far.
Look for it at local Arizona events! (Especially winter events.)
Inspiration for it?
We did a lot of research on turn-of-the-century vending trikes, and it turns out that lots of things were sold from these, not only ice cream! Books, newspapers, food (of course), and probably a lot more things that we don’t even know about yet. Goblin circuses are really into these types of things.
We also wanted to give it a dieselpunk vibe, so we added wheel covers, a leather seat, and chrome lights. It’s like a monster chariot now.
Who made it?
Haley Trikes built it for us starting in mid-2009. Good folks, they did a great job for us. We’re still in the process of customizing it.
Will you bring your Steam Crow-mobile to my event?
If it’s local, it’s certainly possible. Invite us as a guest, and we’ll see if we can pull it off.
We’re looking for street-based art festivals, craft fairs and events like that to sell our stuff. Let us know about your event.
