La Llorona is a Mexican legend found throughout the southwest US, Puerto Rico, and Central and South America.
The basic story revolves around a beautiful woman named Maria who drowned her children to be with the man that she loved. When he turned her away, she slit her own throat and threw her body in a lake. The spirit of Maria is forced to wander the Earth for eternity, weeping and kidnappign children who disobey their parents. (There are many variations of this tale.)
Ever on the lookout for stories of monsters, our Steam Crew offered up some ideas of Southwestern "monsters" and this one captured our imagination!
