This print is inspired by the classic Fritz Lang 1927 silent film Metropolis. The iconic character "Maria" has influenced countless modern sci-fi robots, including C3po from the Star Wars. I think that she is just as cool as old goldenrod.
I illustrated this over June 24th and June 25th 2010, tweaking the colors and attempting to get a good level of depth. I like how the wires about Maria's head are a little like flowing hair.
